New CMOS sensor with 24.1 Megapixels
Incorporating the latest Nikon DSLR technologies – a 24.1MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 3 image-processing engine to name just two, the D5200 delivers outstanding image quality, sharpness and depth. Its CMOS sensor offers a remarkably extendable ISO range of 100 – 25,600 with reduced noise so you can shoot at faster shutter speeds and capture scenes and subjects with less blur. Even in low light your handheld shots and full HD movies will look superb.
High-density 39-point Autofocus system
Capture sharp images wherever your subject is located in the frame with 39 autofocus points. Nikon’s exclusive 3D-tracking, together with the Scene Recognition System, keeps your main subject in focus even if the composition changes.
Vari-angle LCD monitor for flexible shooting
The 3-inch vari-angle LCD monitor gives you the freedom to take pictures and record movies from angles that would otherwise be too difficult with a standard viewfinder. Capture fun self portraits, waist level candid and overhead shots easily – simply twist the monitor for the best viewing angle. Now you can get creative from any point of view.
Shoot Full (1080p) HD movies
With Full HD capability, the D5200 delivers exceptional sharpness and clarity and can capture fluid motion easily. The continuous autofocus tracks your subjects in motion and renders fast moving scenes naturally. Plus the new built-in stereo microphone brings your movies to life with rich, high quality sound. For precise, directional sound simply attach Nikon’s optional ME-1 stereo microphone.
Have more fun with your photos
The D5200’s range of special effects lets your creativity run wild. Selective Colour isolates any colour within the scene; capture details in places too dark for your own eyes using Night Vision; create bright, glowing images filled with atmosphere with High Key; emphasise the mood of a scene using Low Key; Miniature Effect makes a scene look like a miniature scale model; and Colour Sketch creates colour outlines of the subject that are played back as a series of stills in a slide show.
HDR (High Dynamic Range)
In scenes with extreme contrasts, such as bright, sunlit clouds and a foreground deep in shadow, it was once quite difficult to render the textures of both equally. Not any more. D5200 combines two exposures to create an image revealing an extremely wide dynamic range, with less noise and richer colour gradation than ever before.
Speed and performance that delivers
With high-speed continuous shooting at approx. 5 frames per second, you’ll never miss a moment. And with the D5200’s large optical viewfinder providing accurate and realistic composition, you’ll get a precise view and focus in every situation.
Summary of key features:
